Gouache Kite - aesthetic pleasure with every brush stroke
Gouache paintings have a special charm, rich colour and luxurious matte texture. The inks are applied evenly to the paper surface and have a high covering power. They do not crack after drying, making your child's masterpieces look beautiful for a long time.
What are gouache paints?
Gouache is a type of water-soluble paint. It is based on pigments that are mixed with water and humiarabic (a binding agent). Therefore, gouache can be easily applied to paper, cardboard and other surfaces, providing bright and saturated colours. The main difference between gouache and watercolour is that gouache has a thick consistency, homogeneous texture and is opaque. Gouache contains a larger amount of pigment, which gives a matte effect when it dries. It hides imperfections better and is suitable for multi-layer application.

Practical tips for using gouache
Paper. For working with gouache, it is best to use medium or high density paper. Cardboard, canvas, or special gouache paper will also work. Regarding the eternal question of parents: ‘Can I draw with gouache on my face?’, of course not, because art paints are intended only for drawing on paper and have the appropriate composition.
Water. Although gouache is a water-soluble paint, it is important not to thin it too much to avoid losing the colour saturation. Add water gradually until the desired consistency is achieved.
Brushes. If you choose which brushes for gouache will best convey its structure, then these are synthetic, squirrel or pony brushes. The shape can be standard round or flat. Kite brushes are suitable for gouache, watercolour, tempera and other water-soluble paints.
Technique. Gouache dries quickly, so you can apply several layers. After the first layer has dried, apply the next ones without fear of mixing. To create new shades, use a palette.
Storage. Gouache paints are available in 20 ml jars, which should be closed after use. If the paint dries, it can be restored by adding a little water.
