It is useful for children to engage in creative activities from a young age, as it positively affects the development of fine motor skills, helps unleash talents, and teaches concentration. Our budding sculptors, along with their mother, shared their impressions of the exciting process of modeling with colored dough from TM Kite.
KITE HK17-151 Modeling Dough
This is our first review-testing. We tried very hard with the children :) For the first test drive, we chose colored modeling dough from the well-known Ukrainian brand KITE. The brand has made a very loud name for itself: every September 1st, you can see thousands of children with colorful backpacks, shoe bags, and stationery for first-graders and older students from TM KITE. One could list the entire assortment for a long time. It is precisely because of the wild popularity of the Kite brand that we decided to test their modeling dough.
My children love Play-Doh for bringing their fantasies to life. But it's not always financially accessible, and I want something new :)
Kite Colored Modeling Dough: What is it like?
The set consists of three jars of dough, 75g each.
The three basic colors are yellow, red, and blue, which can be mixed to obtain many other shades. We'll show you below.
What is the composition of KITE modeling dough?
Composition:
- water;
- vegetable oil;
- food colorings;
- potassium sorbate (E202). This food additive is harmless to the body. It is an antiseptic, so no microbes will live in an environment containing E202. Which is very acceptable in our case. In addition, this component is hypoallergenic.
I conclude that this dough, based on its composition, can be used for playing with children. As a mother, I am not worried about this.
Let's get acquainted with the dough
The set contains three jars made of medium-hard plastic.
Each lid has a raised image of animals: an elephant, a sheep (I thought it was a hedgehog :), and a horse.
The lid comes off quite easily, but you can also help your child a little.
Inside each jar are molds for figures that can be made from the dough.
We have a million similar figures, but we didn't have these specific ones: a car (but I was told it was a bus :), a heart, and a snail.
The dough is not shiny, it's matte.
When pressed and squeezed, the texture is dense; it requires a little effort.
The dough has a dense structure, but fingerprints are perfectly visible. In the photo, you can see that it's crumbly, as if shortcrust pastry has been twisted.
It's easy to manipulate, easy to tear off pieces, and also quite easy to knead. The smell is not pungent, very pleasant. Makes you want to eat it :)

The kids love sculpting! They liked the snail the most.
They didn't even fight once, which is characteristic. Each one was absorbed in their own activity!

It's quite easy to transfer images. To do this, you need to place the dough in the lid and press down. A child of any age can handle this task independently.

Does the dough leave marks?
Like any plasticine, the dough slightly sticks to the hands, but it's not annoying.
You see, there's almost no greasiness in the dough.
How quickly does Kite modeling dough dry?
So, we sculpted this flatbread.
And left it overnight without a box. Since the dough is made of natural ingredients, it cannot remain pliable in the air for long. After 6 hours, the edges had slightly dried, but in principle, it was still alive, and something could still be sculpted.
After 12 hours, that's it, it breaks into pieces.
Will three jars be enough for our creativity?
When you see three jars of dough in three colors on store shelves, you wonder: will three colors be enough, or should I look for more? I thought so too))) But three colors are quite enough for creativity. After all, they can be mixed.
Take blue and red, and you get purple after intense mixing with your fingers. The dough heats up well and mixes quickly.
Take blue and yellow, and green appears.
Take yellow and red, and you get orange.
That's how our evening went, fun and productive. The children were calm and creative, which is generally not typical for them.
Advantages and disadvantages of TM Kite colored modeling dough
Pros:
- helps develop a child's creative skills;
- the dough does not stick to hands or clothes;
- leaves no greasy marks;
- dries in 10-12 hours in the air;
- colors can be mixed to get new shades;
- affordable price;
- parts stick together well, but do not hold for long - they mix;
- colors mix perfectly if kneaded intensely with fingers.
Cons:
- the dough has such a pleasant smell that you want to eat it :)
