Pens: ballpoint, gel, or oil-based?

Pens: ballpoint, gel or oil. What's the difference and which one to choose?

The division of pens into ballpoint, gel, and oil-based is conditional. This tradition is deeply rooted in our everyday language. But, in fact, all of them write thanks to a ballpoint mechanism. And calling an oil-based or gel pen a ballpoint pen would not be a mistake. They differ in the composition and consistency of their ink. We will discuss the advantages of each type of writing instrument further.

Ballpoint pen

The queen of stationery, the prima ballerina of the pencil case, and the foundation of the entire learning process. Pure classic, practically Beethoven's "Für Elise" in the symphony of pens. It has thick, paste-like ink that lays down a clean, clear line.

Advantages of a ballpoint pen:

  • the most common and affordable;
  • leaves a clean trace, does not smudge or leave blobs;
  • promotes the formation of neat and beautiful handwriting.

Kite ballpoint pens — features:

  • high-quality writing tip - ensures smooth, uninterrupted ink flow;
  • ink - lays down smoothly, leaving an even and clear line;
  • body material — primary plastic, pens last long and look great;
  • rubber grip reduces strain on a child's hand when writing — the child gets less tired;
  • high-quality printing on the body Kite pens last and retain a presentable appearance longer.

Kite ballpoint pen assortment:

  • automatic and non-automatic models;
  • 0.5 and 0.7 mm writing tip;
  • original design and colorful licenses: Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, Transformers, Hot Wheels;
  • impressive emotional series with animal figurines, sports balls, pirates.

Gel pen

A young and glamorous rival to the classic. The ink is gel-based. The ball is located inside the mechanism (in a ballpoint pen, it's external). It writes easily and smoothly in any position, it can handle "problematic" surfaces, even poor quality rough paper, on which other types of pens refuse to write. However, it requires proper storage conditions (it may leak in an incorrect position); it takes a little longer to dry.

Features and advantages of a gel pen:

  • writes easily at any angle;
  • bright, clear, and rich mark;
  • requires a little drying time.

Kite gel pens:

  • write smoothly, without pressure, and do not scratch paper;
  • with a 0.5 mm writing tip — suitable for lovers of thin lines;
  • 0.8 mm — leave a very rich and expressive mark.

The assortment of Kite gel pens includes funny emotional models with animals and sets of colored pens in Hello Kitty and My Little Pony licenses.

Kite erasable gel pens

No more smudges, crossings out, or mess in notebooks. A slip of the pen? It happens! With an erasable pen, everything can be easily corrected, and you can start with a clean slate. Gently rub the mistake with the built-in eraser – and just like that, the unwanted inscription disappears without a trace. Important: the ink is removed not by mechanical erasing and flaking of eraser particles, but by the properties of the ink itself – it heats up during friction and disappears. This means there will be no annoying crumbs, "pills," or damage to the integrity of the page.

  • Tip: 0.5 mm – writes thinly and richly.
  • It is possible to correct mistakes within 12 hours.
  • Licensed and original designs: Hello Kitty, Transformers, College line.

Oil-based pen

Writes smoothly and fluidly thanks to low-viscosity oil-based ink. The line is "bold," dense, and rich. It "dances" easily across the paper, requiring no strong pressure.

Kite oil-based pens:

  • leave a rich, dense, and contrasting mark — the line is clear and does not fade;
  • the hand does not get tired — it's easy to write, no effort needed;
  • distinguished by softer and brighter writing;
  • ink does not show through on the back of the page;
  • write on unconventional surfaces (thin paper, napkins).

The assortment of Kite oil-based pens is presented in colorful models with bright bodies. Licensed designs: Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, Transformers, Hot Wheels.

Which pen should a first-grader buy?

Spoiler: a ballpoint pen. A ballpoint pen helps to develop beautiful handwriting. Moreover, classic ink doesn't smudge as much and looks neater in a notebook.

If the child has mastered calligraphy skills with a simple ballpoint pen, they can try a gel or oil-based pen.

The pen's design is very important for a child. It's much more pleasant and interesting to write with a beautiful pen featuring favorite characters. Kite pens are presented in original licensed series.

Pen for students. The optimal choice is an oil-based pen. It writes more easily than a ballpoint pen and lasts longer than a gel pen.

What the body should be like

A pen for writing affects handwriting, notebook neatness, and hand comfort. How is it that an entire group records the same volume of lectures, yet only some develop calluses on their knuckles? There can be many reasons for this, but one of them is the pen itself — its shape, size, and material. An ideal pen has a medium diameter and a soft, rubberized grip area. Fingers should not slip while writing or feel excessive pressure.

Pen color or 50 shades of blue

Why is blue the "default" color for educational institutions? This question remains open. Some argue that it's historically due to the ease of creating blue ink from plant components (berry juice and oak galls), while others link it to the color of the first chemical pencils that became widespread during the war years. But the fact remains: students in all schools write with blue ink.

However, if you compare, all blue pens differ in shade. For a first-grader, it is preferable to choose pens that are not too dark (they won't visually "dirty" the notebook) and not too light (the written letters should be sufficiently contrasting).

Advantages of Kite pens

  • reliable tip — ensures even and uninterrupted ink flow;
  • high-quality ink — lays down smoothly and clearly;
  • body made of durable primary plastic — reliable and will last a long time;
  • impressive design — bright and delicate drawings with favorite characters;
  • unique emotional series with animal figurines and stylish decor — boosts mood and allows you to collect your unique collection of different animals;
  • wide assortment — ballpoint, oil-based, and gel pens, erasable pens.

A pen is very personal. Intimate. If you manage to find "your" model, it becomes one with you: a smooth, winding stream pouring thoughts onto paper, filling empty white pages with meaning. New families are created with the stroke of a ballpoint pen, decisive historical documents are signed.
