The final stretch of the 2019-2020 school year will go down in history as the strangest and most unusual period of schooling. The pandemic, like a Trojan horse, unexpectedly and audaciously permeated all spheres of life, radically changing our daily lives. Instead of chalk and a blackboard — laptop monitors, instead of noisy breaks — a lazy rustle of lunch right over the keyboard. Such were school lessons until the holidays. But summer is so fleeting. Fewer and fewer pages remain on the calendar separating us from September 1. And unambiguous information about the format of education is sometimes very difficult to separate from fakes and fabricated sensations.
School uniform or elegant home pajamas?
"Sensation! Schools are permanently switching to distance learning!" "It's all decided! From now on, children will study at home on a permanent basis!" "There will be no more celebratory assemblies! Nev-er!"
Have you encountered such "news"? Social media feeds have been abundant with similar headlines for months now. Deceptive fakes sow panic and provoke turbulent emotions in parents. But while some readers angrily "incinerate" authors with stinging comments and continue to repost outdated false speculations, others check official sources for information. And there's a completely different story there.
What will school be like from September 2020 in Ukraine? Distance or traditional lessons?
Let's not prolong the suspense and immediately move on to the joyful news announced by Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Liashko. According to him, all Ukrainian schools will open from September 1, 2020! Lessons will take place in the traditional format, just like in "the good old days": there are no plans for a repeated introduction of "distance learning" and online education in the near future. This is the final decision of the Ukrainian authorities.
However, if the epidemiological situation in a particular region does not meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health, educational institutions will have to be closed for quarantine. But not all, but selectively — only in the "red zone," where morbidity rates will exceed the norm. That is, this is a backup option, or, as they say in movies — "plan B," which is created with the hope that it will not have to be implemented.

Perhaps, the nationwide opening of schools is one of the best news of this summer. First-graders will be able to enjoy the romance of the first bell and feel the excitement of personally getting acquainted with school. Older children will finally meet classmates and continue their studies in their familiar environment.
Empty corridors will once again buzz with the ringing children's chatter, the dining room will be filled with the fragrant aroma of rosy buns, and pieces of chalk will dance with intricate flourishes of rules and problems on the emerald background of the blackboard.
Never before has the phrase "Time for school!" evoked so much joy in parents and children. Ordinary everyday things are now valued differently. After all, it's so wonderful that school is on!
