Avatar's plot
The series is set in the Asian world of martial arts with elements of mixed East Asian, South Asian and Western culture. The world is divided into four levels of power: The Tribe of Water, the Kingdom of Earth, the Nation of Fire and the Nomads of Air. They live in peace and harmony as long as there is an Avatar, a chosen one who controls all the elements and maintains the balance.
At the age of 12, Aang, an airbender, learns that he is the new incarnation of the Avatar, but, fearing responsibility, runs away with Appi the bison. Trapped in the water, Aang uses his power to freeze himself and his friend for a long time. The main events of the series take place 100 years later, when the Fire Nation started a brutal war, captured or destroyed other tribes.
The avatar Aang is found by his brother and sister and rescued from the ice captivity. After learning about what is happening in his world, Aang begins to learn other elements, travel, and develop a plan to destroy the Fire Emperor and restore balance.
Main characters of Avatar
Avatar Aang is the main character, a 112-year-old boy who has to stop the war and become a symbol of balance for the whole world. His faithful animal companions help him in this: Momo (a half lemur, half bat) and Appa (a bison who can fly and has a spiritual connection with the Avatar).
Katara is a girl magician from the Water tribe who finds Aang with her brother and helps him on his journey of learning and finding victory.
Sokka is a warrior of the Water tribe, Katara's brother, who accompanies Aang with his sister and takes part in all the adventures, loves to joke.
Toph is a blind girl farmer who ‘sees’ through the vibration of the earth. She joins Aang's team, reveals the Earth element to the Avatar and teaches him how to master it. She becomes the first and most powerful Earthbender who can bend metal.
Zuko is an exiled prince of the Fire Nation, who, according to the Fire Emperor Ozai's father, is a failure, so he seeks to prove otherwise when he defeats the Avatar. Later he changes his principles, runs away from home and joins the Aang.
Iroh is a competent warrior, general of the Fire Nation, and was the first heir to the throne until his brother Ozai seized power by force. He is cheerful, kind, able to generate lightning and use the powers of dragon fire.
Ozai is the Lord of Fire, the younger brother of Airo, who illegally took the throne. He is a tyrant, the main antagonist of the series, who is capable of genocide even of his own people. He is one of the strongest Firebenders and has lightning.
